Kara's Flowers

Music and rhythm find their way into the secret places of the soul, Plato once said. Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul. But if I were to describe Music in one word, it will be Magic. Yes Magic! The way the lyrics are put together to express thoughts and feelings. The way the melody is mete out in a song, everything fits perfectly. There are countless types of music and your kind of music delineates your personality. I believe that not a soul in the world can live without music. We may have different tastes on it but it does not really matter. Another thing I am sure of is that our love for music made us look up to a lot of different music icons.

We are all fans. And I am proud to be a fan of the American pop-rock band Maroon 5 formerly Kara’s Flowers. The lead vocalist Adam Levine, keyboardist  Jesse Carmichael, bass guitarist  Mickey Madden, and drummer Ryan Dusick  formed a band called Kara's Flowers which released one album in 1997 and later on re-formed a more pop-oriented band with guitarist James Valentine.

In 2002 they released their debut album entitled Songs About Jane  as Maroon 5, the album was a success in many parts of the world. Most of the songs in this album are related to love, heartaches and letting go. Allegedly, "Jane" refers to Adam Levine's ex-girlfriend. So I suppose that all the songs in this album speak about what transpired between them and their relationship. In 2006 Ryan Dusick the drummer had to leave the band, he was then replaced by Matt Flynn.

In 2007 they released the second album entitled It Won’t Be Soon For Long where their first single “Makes Me Wonder” was their first single to reach the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In 2012 they released their third album entitled Hands All Over where their biggest hit “Moves Like Jagger” belongs, in this song they did a collaboration with Christina Aguilera and sold over 8 million copies worldwide as of June 2012, which established it as the best-selling singles of all time. March this year the band announced about Jesse Carmichael's temporary break from the band for an undetermined period to devote his time for his studies and for spiritual healing.

Two months ago they released their latest album Overexposed where their pilot single “Payphone” featuring rapper Wiz Khalifa debuted at the no. 3 slot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and eventually rose to no. 2 slot after several weeks.

Recently the band has started their Overexposed world tour together with PJ Morton as the keyboardist .They are scheduled to visit Manila in September 18. Unfortunately, I was not able to get ticket for the show as the tickets were sold out in less than a week. I was depressed for weeks when I learned that I can no longer watch their concert. I just love the band and all their songs. Slowly I learned to accept it, but still holding on to my dream that one day I am going to be able to watch them perform live. So I spent days watching their concert videos, music videos and listening to their songs almost every day just to ease up my frustration. Ticketnet said they will be selling standing room tickets on the day of the show but that is too risky for me to take since I will be coming from the province. Nevertheless, that does not change a thing I am still their fan and forever will.

I have always been fascinated by the catchy melodies and meaningful lyrics of their songs, and I mean all their songs. Adam Levine is indubitably a genius in songwriting. No wonder a lot of girls out there are going crazy over him. As a whole, Maroon 5 is five talented, music enthusiast men united to contribute delight and inspiration to the world through their craft in music.
