Baguio City has been my husband and I's getaway place even when we were not yet married when we want to take a break from our busy life and work. It is just a 1 hour and a half drive from our city and 2 hour trip when you take the bus. Although it's so close to our place, Baguio never fails to give us a different experience. The cool breeze, cozy and relaxing ambiance it has is just right for an ideal vacation.
We have never had out of town trips with Bren since he was born. So Bob and I thought that Baguio is the best place for our son's first out of town trip. We originally planned to go to Baguio last December 3 but due to Typhoon Pablo's threat we decided to move it to December 10, coz the typhoon was predicted to make a second landfall in the Ilocos region and we didn't want to take the risk.
December 10, Monday is the day. We got to ride the Victory Liner Deluxe Bus at around 7:50am. As usual, Bren is busy and concentrating on watching the vehicles through the window.
At around 8:45am we had a stop over at Victory Liner Sison Terminal Bus Stop. Still, the little boy is silently and seriously focused on watching the buses and the busy people outside the bus window.
He didn't even noticed when I said "baby picture tayo, smile!", look at where his eyes are on. Hahaha He might be wondering where we're heading to? And why the long bus ride?
By 10am we already got off the bus from the Victory Liner Baguio Terminal. We rode a cab and headed to our first itinerary, the Baguio City Cathedral, like how it always is every time we go up to the city in the clouds. Unfortunately, we weren't able to take pictures there coz there was a wedding going on.
After the visit to the cathedral, we went down to Session Road via Porta Vaga Mall. Bob had to do some important transactions to the bank so we passed by Planter's Bank which took him almost two hours to finish. It was already past 12nn when we left the bank.
So we went straight to upper Session Road to have lunch at Sizzling Plate. We prefer eating at Session Road branch coz they have bigger servings here than the one in SM City Baguio. ;-)
After taking our orders we asked the waiter to take a picture of us.
And we took more pictures while waiting for our orders.
Hungry Bren. "(0.0)
Angry Bren. (>_<)
Bob and I ordered for two Australian Porterhouse Steak with Java Rice, well done for me and medium rare for him.
We paired it with Sweet Mango Juice. Usually we order Calamansi Juice but since we have Bren with us we ordered drinks that we can share with him. Calamansi Juice is very acidic so it's not advisable for kids.
We also ordered Chef's Salad.
And a slice of Sansrival for Bren that he started to eat upon serving, so this is how it already looked like by the time I took picture of it.
After our meal, I had to change Bren's shirt coz he's so messy. Then he drank his milk before leaving the restaurant.
After having lunch, we headed again to another bank coz Bob had to fix something for his Paypal account. We went across to Union Bank Session Road. But Bren got bored so we went outside and just waited there for Bob.
After Union Bank, we went to Melvin Jones Grandstand.
And just beside the Melvin Jones Granstand is the Burnham Park and Lake.
Bren and I went biking at West Burnham. Imagine biking in Baguio road continuously for 45 minutes. Man, that was really tiring! It felt like I burned all the calories I got from the steak that I just ate.
After biking we decided to leave Burnham. We took a cab to SM City Baguio. We went to the department store and we pass by the Cars shoe kiosk. Bren badly wants this Cars shoes but unfortunately they don't have his size.
So as replacement of the shoes that he wasn't able to get, we instead bought him toys. We bought him another Caterpillar Truck (a smaller one so he can bring it with him every time we go out coz his first Caterpillar truck was so huge), a Basketball set (since his old set was already broken) and a Rewritable board.
It was already 5:30pm when we decided to have our early dinner coz we target to go home before 7pm. We ate at Don Henrico's.
We chose to sit by the veranda for an overlooking view.
We were told to wait for 15 minutes for our orders. So there goes Bren wandering in the veranda and railings.
We ordered for two Company Combo. Apple juice for me and 7-up for Bob.
And a 10" Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza.
After our meal, Bren drank another bottle of milk.
After he finished his milk we walked down to Genesis Bus Terminal along the Upper Session Road since it's nearer from SM than the Victory Liner Bus Terminal. By 6:30pm we were already on board and just waited for the bus to leave. So there he is already holding his new Caterpillar truck.
Time to say bye bye to Baguio for now Bren.
Sleeping Bren. ZzzZzzz.....
This is our first time not to go overnight coz we wanted to test Bren first, we wanted to see if how he will adopt to the place, the temperature and the trip. But so far so good, he was relaxed the whole trip, I assumed that he didn't got dizzy coz he didn't vomit, he didn't show signs of anxiety or discomfort. And despite the colder December-Baguio weather he sweats when he wears a jacket. I can say that he can manage to stay longer so next time maybe we can stay for 3 days. He has a lot more to visit in Baguio.
Our first out of town trip as family was a long day full of fun, activity and accomplishments, truly memorable.
